Court appoints life imprisonment to Said Amirov
In Rostov-on-Don, the court began reading out the verdict in the case of ex-Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov. He was sentenced to life imprisonment; his nephew Yusup Djaparov – to 18 years in a high-security colony.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, where the Amirov's case is heard, is under strengthened security measures.
Said Amirov, Yusup Djaparov, Murad Aliev, Akhmedov brothers, Magomed Kadiev and Zubair Mutaev were accused of organizing murders, participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF), banditry, terrorism and illegal arms trafficking. None of the defendants has pled guilty. On August 20, the oral hearing was over; when advocates asked to acquit their clients.
The judge declared that Amirov was found guilty of committing a terrorist act, attempt on the life of an investigator and, therefore, was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Yusup Djaparov was awarded 18 years of high-security colony.
Magomed Akhmedov was sentenced to 22 years, Magomed Kadiev – to 13 years, Murad Aliev – to 12 years, Zubair Mutaev – to 11 years, and brothers Abdulmajid and Shamsutdin Akhmedov – to 10 years of high-security colony each.
