Georgian MFA sends to Ukraine note of protest against Mikhail Saakashvili's statements

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has sent to the Ukrainian MFA a note of protest against the statements made by Mikhail Saakashvili, Governor of the Odessa Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 24, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced the launch of the investigation into a conspiracy to seize power. This was preceded by the information disseminated by the Ukrainian media about the meeting of Mikhail Saakashvili and Giga Bokeriya, Secretary of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, held on October 22, during which they discussed the organization of a coup d'etat in Georgia. Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters accused the Georgian authorities of tapping.

In the evening of October 30, David Djalaganiya, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, has handed over the note of protest to Georgy Nazarov, the temporary charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Georgia.

"The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its extreme concern over the statements made by Mikhail Saakashvili, Governor of the Odessa Region, and disseminated by the media, which contained the calls dangerous to the security and stability of Georgia," the press service of the Georgian MFA states as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

The Georgian authorities have treated the statements made by Mikhail Saakashvili as "interference in the internal affairs of Georgia, which are unacceptable and inconsistent with the spirit of the friendship and partnership existing between the two countries."
