Chechnya Court bans Charlie Hebdo Twitter
The Leninsky District Court of Grozny has ruled to ban in Russia Twitter page of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
According to the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya, the Charlie Hebdo page contains illustrations that offend "religious feelings of believers and express disrespect to images of prophets, as well as cartoons mocking the Russian aircraft A321 crash in Egypt."
"The spread of such materials can cause incitement of ethnic or religious hatred and enmity, which is prohibited by federal legislation," the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya believes.
The Office filed a lawsuit to the Leninsky District Court of Grozny "on recognition of the Twitter page of Charlie Hebdo banned throughout the territory of Russia." This demand was satisfied on November 23, the website of Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya reports today.
