Two persons convicted in Rostov-on-Don for attempting to join IS
The court has sentenced Albert Minatullaev, a resident of Dagestan, and Askar Abdumuslimov, a resident of the Kirov Region, to four years in prison after finding them guilty of trying to join the "Islamic State” (IS).
According to prosecutors, from December 2014 to March 2015, the convicts illegally tried to get on board the passenger or cargo ship in the Krasnodar Territory going to Turkey. Then, as the court has established, they intended to become members of the IS (banned in Russia and declared a terrorist organization, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") in Syria.
The North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found both of them guilty of an attempt to take part in the activities of the above terrorist organization, says the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory. The convicts will serve their sentences in a general-security colony.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on other similar cases in the Krasnodar Territory. Thus, on December 2, it became known about the detention in November 2015 of two residents of the territory at the Krasnodar Airport on suspicion of trying to join illegal armed formations (IAFs) in Syria.
