Rescue team finds bodies of three persons killed in avalanche near Mount Elbrus
Rescue team has discovered the bodies of three skiers who came under an avalanche while skiing on slopes of Mount Cheget.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this morning, the avalanche descended from the southern slope of Mount Cheget. Members of the Elbrus high-mountain search and rescue team were engaged in the search for three skiers affected by the avalanche.
At about 12:30 a.m. Moscow time, Kantemir Davydov, the head of the press service of the North-Caucasian Regional Centre of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), reported on the discovery of the bodies of two deceased skiers.
Later, the press service of the Chief Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Russian MfE reported that the rescuer team had found the body of the third deceased skier.
"Right now, members of the rescuer team are busy transporting the bodies of all three deceased skiers from the mountain slope down to the valley," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the MfE as reporting.
According to Kantemir Davydov, the bodies of the deceased skiers were found two kilometres from the ski pistes open to skiing.
