Ramzan Kadyrov bans dialogue between different concepts of Islam in Chechnya
On February 2, inGrozny, the central mosque named after Akhmad Kadyrov hosted the gathering of followers of tarikats (Sufi brotherhoods) of Naqshbandi and Kadar. The event was attended by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, the Muftis of Chechnya and Ingushetia, and followers of different Sufi concepts, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
At the gathering, Chechen Mufti Salakh Mezhiev voiced criticism of Ingush theologians Khamzat Chumakov and Isa Tsechoev and accused them of being unwilling to hold an open debate.
During the meeting, participants adopted a resolution. The authors of the resolution claimed the risk of a split of the Muslim Ummah.
The resolution has also stated that the believers who adopted the resolution recognize a debate and discussions with Salafis to prove their "erroneous ideology."
In his speech delivered at the gathering, Ramzan Kadyrov has compared Ingush theologians with "shaitans" (devils) and stated that they will not have a chance to speak in Chechnya.
"Isa Tsechoev... is one of the biggest shaitans. If you ask whether such people will preach in Chechnya... then we answer that once they can try on error. However, for the second time, they will be persecuted," said Ramzan Kadyrov in his speech delivered in the Chechen language.
Furthermore, Ramzan Kadyrov has also called on the authorities of Ingushetia not to let Khamzat Chumakov and Isa Tsechoev preaching. "If the Ingush authorities do not take steps to stop these two men, it will not be difficult for us to stop them," he said.
