Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria accused of helping militants

Investigators have completed the investigation into the case against a Baksan resident accused of illegal arms trafficking, helping militants and their financing.

According to the investigators, in May 2013, the defendant received from a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) 46 rounds of ammunition, an RGD-5 hand fragmentation grenade and an UZRGM-2 fuse and hid the illegal items on the outskirts of the village of Dugulubgei.

Furthermore, the investigators believe that in June 2013, the Baksan resident gave an IAF member 5000 roubles and clothes.

The criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor has been brought to the court for consideration on the merits, reports the website of the Investigating Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February, the Cherek District Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic found schoolteacher Albert Khotov guilty of helping militants and weapons possession and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment in a penal settlement-colony, followed by restraint of liberty for six months, and to a fine of 10,000 roubles.
