Two men killed in a shootout in Stavropol Territory

In the Cossack village of Sernovodskaya of the Kursk District, two persons were killed as a result of a shootout with staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). None of law enforcers suffered in the incident.

According to the law enforcement authorities, tonight, two persons opened fire from automatic weapons on law enforcers when they wanted to check their documents. As a result, a shootout occurred, in which the attackers were killed.

During the shootout, the attackers threw hand grenades on the law enforcers. None of the law enforcers was injured, the "Interfax" reports today at 7:14 a.m. with reference to sources from the regional law enforcement bodies.

According to the preliminary information, the killed men are identified as Astemir Besleneev and Rashid Ustarkhanov, the "Interfax" reports today with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies for the Stavropol Territory.

The Russian MIA's Chief Department for the Stavropol Territory reports that the killed men were militants. According to the FSB Department for the Stavropol Territory, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was not introduced within the Stavropol Territory, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
