Permyakov confesses of massacring Avetisyan family members

Today, having confessed of murdering the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, a Russian military Valery Permyakov refused to tell the court whether he had acted alone or not. Permyakov has also stated that he "does not consider himself a mentally ill person."

Valery Permyakov, a soldier of the Russian military base, is accused of killing seven Avetisyan family members at night of January 12, 2015. He had already been sentenced by a Russian court to 10 years of imprisonment on charges of desertion, theft, and illegal possession of weapons.

In the course of today's session, the travelling court the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Shirak Region has finished reading out Permyakov's testimonies to investigators, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Eduard Agadjanyan, a Valery Permyakov's advocate, asked his client at the session whether he had been under any pressure during the interrogations; and Permyakov assured the court that "there was no pressure on him."

When asked by the judge, the prosecutor or advocates, Valery Permyakov either refused to answer, or answered very briefly: "yes", "no", "don't know" and "don't want".

However, at the session, Valery Permyakov admitted his guilt, saying that he had killed the Avetisyan family members. However, Permyakov refused to answer the question whether he acted alone or not.

"What would you think of a man who killed seven persons?" the advocate Migran Pogosyan asked the Permyakov. The defendant replied that he "would consider such a person a mentally ill one." "But I am not a mentally ill person," Permyakov told the court.
