Parade in Grozny was accompanied by heightened security measures
The military parade in the Chechen capital began 30 minutes later than the scheduled time, while security measures in central Grozny were essentially strengthened. The reason for this was in the morning terror act in the Grozny District of Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today two men attacked the above checkpoint. One of them blew himself up; the other was killed by policemen. The Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports about six wounded policemen; three of whom are in extremely grave condition.
Unlike previous years, this time power agents completely blocked all the exits to Putin and Kadyrov Avenues, which are usually used for the parade of pedestrian military units and machines.
A Chechen law enforcement source said that power agents had received information about two suspected terrorists, who intended to commit terror acts in central Grozny.
"We’ve been informed that there may be two other terrorists, intending to blow up themselves at the parade. We were instructed to be vigilant and cautious and not to let people to central avenues. People were unhappy, but we have to obey orders," said the source.
Grozny residents note that mostly they were not able to see the parade.
"Nobody saw the parade, except for the leadership and a small group of veterans and officials. Cordons were erected quite far away from Kadyrov Avenue. I saw a report about the parade on the local TV and noticed another peculiarity: today, Ramzan Kadyrov and his entourage were dressed not the general’s and colonel's uniforms, as it was at the last year's parade, but in civilian clothes , and is also not by chance," believes the head of a local NGO, who preferred to preserve his anonymity.
