Dagestani republic's wrestling team ignores request of head of Dagestan

Ramazan Abdulatipov has called on the Dagestani team in freestyle wrestling to continue participation in the championships of Russia. However, the athletes continue protesting against the unfair, in their opinion, refereeing.

Let us remind you that on May 27 the fight of the Dagestani wrestler Ismail Musukaev with Victor Lebedev from Yakutia ended in a brawl with the participation of the coaching staff. The brawl was stopped by OMON (riot police) agents. On the same day, the outcome of the fight was reconsidered in favour of Musukaev, but it did not give the athlete a chance to continue performing at the tournament. In protest, the complete team of Dagestan refused to participate in the championship.

At the request of the head of Yakutia Yegor Borisov, the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov addressed the Dagestani team and its head coach Sazhid Sazhidov, as well as Omar Murtazaliev, the first vice-president of the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF). Abdulatipov urged the team to continue participating in the championships, noting that the outcomes thereof would define Dagestani athletes' participation in the Olympic Games-2016.

However, the team of Dagestan has not change its decision, the "Interfax" has announced today.
