Advocates claim pressure on judge in Valery Permyakov's case

The judge came to the court session with the prepared decision to dismiss the civil suit against Russia in the case of the murder of Avetisyan family members committed by Valery Permyakov in Gyumri, and the decision was made under pressure. This was stated by Armenian advocates.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2015, the trial was started in the territory of the 102nd Russian military base deployed in Gyumri. On May 27, the advocate of the successors of the Avetisyan family members appealed for a civil claim in the amount of 450,000 euro against the Russian Federation, which, according to the plaintiffs, was responsible for the errors of the military base commander which resulted in the tragedy.

The judge's decision is a gross violation of the law, states advocate Lusine Saakyan. According to her, the judge "has no right to dismiss the claim on which he had earlier made the decision on acceptance into consideration."

The advocate has noted that in case if the judge's decision on the claim against Russia does not receive the relevant discussions, the advocates will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The judge has made the decision which contradicts the decision pronounced by him on May 27 on the acceptance of the claim into consideration and recognition of relatives of the Avetisyan family members as plaintiffs and the Russian Federation as a defendant. This was emphasized by advocate Erem Sarkisyan.

The court session is postponed until July 8.
