Most victims of riots in Sukhumi are power agents
Among those who applied for medical aid during the July 5 unrests in Sukhumi there was only one participant of the protest rally; all other victims are policemen, said the chief physician of the republic's hospital.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 5, after an extraordinary congress of the "Amtsakhara" Party in Sukhumi, supporters of the opposition went out for a rally, which ended with an attempt to storm the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to Andzor Goov, the Minister of Public Health, in the course of the riots, medical facilities received 19 people, nine of them needed hospitalization.
Most of those, who addressed for medical help, were law enforcers, Astamur Ivanba, the Chief Physician of the Republic's Hospital, said today.
He added that on 5 July five persons were hospitalized for inpatient treatment in the neurosurgery ward of the hospital.
"Basically, they have traumatic brain injuries and concussions; there were no grave patients," said Astamur Ivanba.
