Detentions

On July 20, in Magas and in one of the municipal districts of Nazran, field investigators detained a group of accomplices of the "Nazran" criminal grouping, which members swore allegiance to the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia. During the searches conducted in the detainees' houses, law enforcers seized ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

On July 22, law enforcers detained four residents of the Georgievsk District of the Stavropol Territory on suspicion of illegal sale and possession of automatic weapons and ammunition. According to the police, since June 2015, the suspects sold three Kalashnikov submachine guns, two pistols, and about 1000 rounds of ammunition. Law enforcers have identified seven facts of sale of weapons. One of the suspects had earlier criminal record for a similar crime. During the searches in the suspects' houses, law enforcers seized a rifle, two bayonet knives, a pistol, a grenade, and more than 60 rounds.

On July 22, in Makhachkala, while on duty in Hungarian Fighters Streets and the adjacent streets, law enforcers started to stop mosque-goers passing by them after the end of the Friday prayer and demanded to present their IDs. Regardless of whether the mosque visitors showed their IDs or not, they were detained and then brought to the police station. In total, the law enforcers detained about 20 people.
