In Dagestan, 14 members of "Rodina" Party withdraw their names from election lists
According to the "Rodina" (Motherland) Party, in Dagestan, its candidates and their relatives are being subjected to pressure by the authorities.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, on the single day of voting, Dagestan will hold the elections to the National Assembly of Dagestan. Besides, the voting for the candidates of the Republic of Dagestan to the State Duma will take place on the same day. On July 21, the "People Against Corruption" Party refused to participate in the parliamentary elections and claimed being subjected to the administrative pressure from the authorities.
The number of candidates running for seats in the State Duma, who withdrew their names from the election lists, has reached 14. This was stated by Zhemilat Ibragimova, the press secretary of the Dagestani branch of the "Rodina" Party.
"In the Tarumovka, Babayurt, and Khiv Districts, candidates are subjected to strong pressure. In Derbent, a journalist faces a requirement to quit his job or to cease being a member of the 'Rodina' Party... In the Untsukul District, our candidate has received a threat that his son, daughter and her husband will be dismissed from their jobs. However, he has not refused his participation in the elections," said Ramazan Mamaev, the leader of the regional pre-election campaign headquarters of the "Rodina" Party, a candidate to the State Duma.
According to Zhemilat Ibragimova, she has got the information from the Dagestani State Technical University about "intimidation of students, nominated by the 'Rodina' Party."
