The Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) has completed fundraising in favour of repatriates from Syria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the fundraising campaign started on June 28. It was planned to spend the raised money on improving the housing and living conditions of Syrian repatriates. The action was organized by the youth organization of the "Adyge Khase" of the KChR.

In total, as of 4:30 p.m. Moscow time on August 1, over 700,000 roubles had been raised, Timur Zhuzhuev, the head of the youth organization, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The fundraising action ended with a tonight's concert, said Diana, an activist.

According to activists, the fundraising was supported both by large companies and ordinary citizens. Philanthropists and businessmen have also donated, Diana said.

The youth organization has not yet made a decision, on what the raised funds will be spent.

Nine repatriate families live in the KChR – 37 people in total, about half of them are minors, said Timur Zhuzhuev.
