Six KBR residents suspected of aiding militants
A group of six residents of the village of Dygulybgey had supplied foodstuffs and medicines to militants, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has stated today.
According to the MIA, the group was detained "during a check of operative information in the Baksan District." Firearms, ammunition and jewellery were confiscated from the group members, the MIA asserts.
"The detainees are suspected of stealing, in February and July this year, cash, foreign currencies and gold articles worth over 3.5 million roubles from households of their fellow villagers," says the statement posted today on the website of the MIA of the KBR.
The statement notes that the detainees "are also suspected of involvement in the activities of members of an illegal armed formation, operating in the republic’s territory; for a long time they were supplying foodstuffs, medicines to IAF members and ensured their secret transportation."
