In Georgia, David Borchashvili sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment for terrorism

David Borchashvili, a native of the Pankisi Gorge, has been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment on the charge of involvement in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 24, David Borchashvili was detained on suspicion of involvement in the IS and its activities in Syria. The suspect pleaded not guilty, since, according to him, he fought on the side of the "Free Syrian Army".

According to the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the involvement of David Borchashvili in the combat actions on the side of the terrorists is proved irrefutably.

David Borchashvili reached Syria after he came to Turkey to work in 2014. At the time of his deportation from Turkey and detention in November 2015, he was wounded in his leg, the "Sputnik" reports.

In July, Bekkhan Tokhosashvili, a resident of the Pankisi Gorge, involved in the combat actions on the side of the IS, was killed in Syria.
