Avetisyan family's relatives intend to challenge Valery Permyakov's sentence

Relatives of the Avetisyan family members murdered in Gyumri claim that Valery Permyakov was not able to commit a crime alone. They intend to appeal against the verdict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 23, the court sentenced Valery Permyakov to life imprisonment for killing seven members of the Avetisyan family.

According to investigators, on January 12, 2015, Valery Permyakov left without permission the territory of the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, made his way to the house of the Avetisyan family and killed the people who were inside the house, including a six-month baby, who died a week later. Valery Permyakov admitted his guilt in full.

At the meeting with journalists, the relatives of the killed Avetisyan family members have voiced their intention to challenge the court's decision. They have expressed their extreme dissatisfaction with the investigation conducted and the court's verdict, the "Armenpress" reports.

Lusine Avetisyan believes that no major issues were clarified during the trial. She believes that Valery Permyakov acted not alone.

"When he is asked why he has done that, he keeps silence, because it was not him who killed the family members, but those who were with him," stated Lusine Avetisyan as quoted by the website "News.am".

According to Arthur Kshtoyan, a son-in-law of the Avetisyan family members, the court has failed to ensure the presence of important witnesses from the Russian side.
