Participant of memory action for Beslan victims detained in Moscow

Victor Kapitonov, an activist, who tried to hold a commemoration action for victims of the terror act in Beslan, was detained near the building of the administration of Russian President.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 people hostage in the Beslan School No. 1. The rescue operation was completed on September 3, 2004. The terror act killed 334 people, including 186 children. 810 people were injured.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Beslan five women-protesters, who went out wearing t-shirts with accusations addressed to President of Russia, were detained, as well as journalists Elena Kostyuchenko and Diana Khachatryan. In total, the journalists spent about two hours at the police station. The detained women-protesters were charged with disorderly conduct.

Victor Kapitonov tried to hold his action near the entrance to the Russian presidential administration tonight together with another activist, Dmitry Zhdanov, who is a wheelchair invalid, reports the website of the independent human rights media project "OVD-Info".

A video record of the activist's detention was posted today on the "Grudus-TV" Channel on the YouTube. Judging by the video, Kapitonov and Zhdanov tried to lay flowers at the entrance to the building of the presidential administration. They also tried to place posters there containing allegations against Russian authorities concerning the events in Beslan.

Police took away their posters and detained Victor Kapitonov, while Zhdanov was not detained.
