Activists of "Voice of Beslan" complain about excessive use of force in suppression of their action

The female activists of the "Voice of Beslan" committee, sentenced to fines and public works, will challenge the court's decision at the Supreme Court (SC) of North Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the women involved in the action that they believe the police used force unnecessarily and the court made the decision on the basis of the false protocols.

Let us remind you that the action held on September 1 involved Ella Kesaeva, whose daughter was taken hostage, but survived, Emma Betrozova, whose husband and two sons were killed in the terror act, Emilia Bzarova, whose son was killed in the terror act, Zhanna Tsirikhova, who herself was taken hostage together with her two daughters, one of whom was killed, and Svetlana Margieva, who was also taken hostage with her daughter, who died in her arms.

According to the women, the persons guilty in the tragedy have not yet been punished. Svetlana Margieva has noted that when the school building was seized, Maskhadov, the Chechen separatists' leader, offered to come to take part in the talks with the terrorists; however, the woman believes that the authorities had "decided to sacrifice the children."

Earlier, human rights organization "Freedom House" and "Amnesty International" (AI) made statements in support of the women involved in the action.
