Armenian experts doubt revision of election outcome

To cancel the results of the elections to local self-administration bodies, the opposition should present strong evidence of massive violations. This was stated by Armenian experts. According to them, the available facts are not enough for political forces to appeal against the election outcome.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 2, in Armenia, 377 communities held the voting at the elections to local self-administration bodies. The public initiative "Citizen Observer" counted 162 violations and reported on crowds near polling stations, "carousels", and bribes to voters. The General Prosecutor's Office is engaged in checking 175 reports on violations.

The results of the voting will not be cancelled, believes political analyst Ruben Megrabyan, an expert of the Armenian Centre for Political and International Studies. He believes that the authorities' next steps depend on the reaction of the civil society.

Boris Navasardyan, the chair of the Yerevan Press Club, doubts that the opposition has strong evidence of falsifications during the elections.

According to Ruben Megrabyan, the elections, at which the ruling Republican Party failed to win 50% of votes debunked the myth of its invincibility.

Meanwhile, Boris Navasardyan believes that the power has strengthened its positions.
