Children ombudsmen argue about legitimacy of children's fights in Chechnya

In Grozny, no law was violated while organizing children's performance fights. This was declared by Khamzat Khirakhmatov, Ombudsman for Children in Chechnya. His opinion was challenged in absentia by Anna Kuznetsova, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights. She noted that "the fights were held as performance, but children in fact stroke each other." The Presidential Commissioner promised to initiate an investigation into the case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 4, in Grozny, the Grand Prix Akhmat-2016 tournament in mixed martial arts (MMA) involved the children's performances, won by three sons of Ramzan Kadyrov, ten, nine and eight years old.

According to the rules of competitions under the auspices of the Russian MMA Union, tournaments allow involving children from 12 years old.

The Chechen Ombudsman for Children "has verified fights and fond no violations of the law," reports an official from the office of the Chechen Ombudsman for Children.

In his turn, Evgeny Chernousov, an advocate from the Moscow Bar "Malaya Dmitrovka", "questions the eligibility of the permission got by the organizers for holding sparring," since involvement of minors in the event could inflict harm to their health.

The supervising authorities should pay attention to the broadcast of the fights without rules among young children, states Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman.
