In Volgograd, nine persons hold picket against criminalization of children punishment
Today, in the centre of Volgograd, activists of the organization "All-Russian Parental Resistance" have continued to collect signatures against a new law criminalizing punishment of children.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 8, the activists of the NGO "All-Russian Parental Resistance" held a picket against the new law and collected 50 signatures in support of their demand.
The activists were collecting signatures under the appeal to the President with the demand to abolish the new law and distributing leaflets to passers-by. The protest action involved nine activists, reports Victor Shilin, an activist of the NGO.
"Family relationships are actually equated to hooliganism, extremism. That is, it is treated as an aggravating feature. The article is transferred from private prosecution to private-and-public prosecution. In case if a family quarrel occurs and, being agitated, people file a complaint to the police and then make up their quarrel, they will not be able to withdraw the complaint, and the case will be brought to court," explained activist Victor Shilin.
According to him, the regional office of the organization has already received requests from families who have had problems because of the new law.
