Gukovo miners state non-payment of promised money
About 300 miners gathered today in the town of Gukovo to hold picket at the office of the "Kingcoal" Company, demanding from the authorities to solve the problem of their wage debts and issuance of ration coal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 25 the Governor of Rostov Region Vasily Golubev asked the Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev to allocate 300 million roubles from the reserve fund of the Government to pay off the wage debts to workers of the "Kingcoal" Group of Companies.
Despite the assurances of State Duma MPs and the Governor Vasily Golubev’s appeal to the Russian government asking for a permit to use the regional reserve fund for paying the debts, the Gukovo miners have not received the promised money yet. "So far, it’s all zero," Nikolai Nadkernichny, the coordinator of miners’ protest actions, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
He noted that miners are still waiting for debt repayment by the authorities within the coming two weeks, "or at least until the New Year."
"They owe us 340 million roubles plus the wages for November 2016," said the coordinator. According to Mr Nadkernichny, workers have submitted an appeal to the Gukovo City Prosecutor’s Office demanding to pay out their November wages within a week.
