In case on Boris Nemtsov's murder, advocate of politician's family criticizes judge's position

In the case on the murder of Boris Nemtsov, an advocate who represents the interests of the victim party has criticized the judge's decision to limit the range of questions to be addressed to prosecution witnesses Ilya Yashin and Alexander Ryklin in the presence of the jury.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. Within his murder case five natives from Chechnya and Ingushetia were arrested, including Zaur Dadaev, brothers Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev. The criminal case also involves Chechen officers Ruslan Mukhudinov, Ruslan Geremeev, and Beslan Shavanov, who was killed during his detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the hearing held on November 30, the Moscow District Military Court has granted the motion for questioning in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder Ilya Yashin, his party colleague, and journalist Alexander Ryklin. Meanwhile, the judge forbade asking the witnesses in the presence of the jury of the questions, relating to the personality of Boris Nemtsov and his political activities.

"The judge who chair the trial makes every effort not to get out of the framework in which the investigators found themselves, that is, to treat it as an ordinary murder and not to reveal the motives and the customers," said Vadim Prokhorov, an advocate of the victim party, while commenting on the results of the hearing.

Vadim Prokhorov has noted that he does not understand the judge's ban to ask witnesses Alexander Ryklin and Ilya Yashin the questions, relating to the personality of Boris Nemtsov and his political position.

"Apparently, the Court wants to reverse the fact that this is not an ordinary murder, but a murder, caused by the political public activities… 'Attempt on life of a state public figure', exactly what we said at the beginning that the case had been classified incorrectly," said the advocate.
