Court supports request of Mardiros Demerchyan's advocate to question victim

At the trial in the case against Mardiros Demerchyan, a builder of Olympic facilities, public prosecutor has submitted to the court a complaint of victim Nikolai Krasko, director of a construction company, in which he asked to consider the case without him. The defence has requested to question the victim, and the court agreed to question Nikolai Krasko via video conference.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mardiros Demerchyan worked in Sochi at construction of Olympic facilities. On June 12, 2013, he was detained on suspicion of theft. According to Mardiros Demerchyan, he was subjected to severe torture at a police station. At present, the re-consideration of the case is underway, and the defence insists on the return of the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, since Nikolai Krasko, the director of the "Dauriya Stroi", involved in the case of theft as a victim, was not found.

On September 29, it was reported that the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) communicated the complaint filed by Mardiros Demerchyan. Russia as a respondent party on the complaint is required to provide an hourly report on what was happening with Mardiros Demerchyan since his detention.

At the court hearing, advocate Alexander Boichenko has reported on the need of the victim's presence at the trial. He has added that he had never seen Nikolai Krasko.
