Native of Chechnya arrested in Turkey on suspicion of involvement in IS

A native of Chechnya has been arrested in the province of Agri in Eastern Turkey and accused of having links with the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia, said the spokesman of the Counterterrorist Department of the Security Office of the province.

"The Russian citizen of Chechen origin is now in custody; the investigation continues. For us this is an unusual case – earlier we never detained foreigners on charges of terrorism in our province," said the spokesman.

Earlier, the press service of the Agri Governor reported that the Russian citizen was arrested by the court after in the house, where he was detained during a counterterrorist operation (CTO), law enforcers found fake documents, and his photo with IS symbols at the background, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
