Police release relatives of suspects killed in Grozny

Relatives of the young people killed in a special operation in Grozny have been released after the gathering, involving relatives of the killed policemen and militants, as well as representatives of their clans, elders, and theologians. The police ordered the relatives of the suspects killed in the course of the special operation not to leave the places of their residence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 30, at a gathering held in front of the "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque, people raised a question of blood feud against relatives of the militants killed in the special operation held in Grozny on December 17-18. Adam Shakhidov, an advisor to the Chechen leader, has urged the relatives of the killed policemen to refuse blood feud. However, participants of the gathering refused to forgive relatives of the suspected militants.

According to Aslan, a member of a local NGO, the police repeatedly detained a second cousin of one of the killed militants. Aslan has noted that "the reason for the repeated detention is still unclear."

The relatives of the killed young people have also noted that they "laid their hopes on the gathering."

Earlier, one of the female relatives of the killed young people said that the men of their family left Grozny for remote villages because of the blood feud declared against them.
