Abkhazian MoD has no plans to house Russian military training ground

The construction of a Russian military training ground in the village of Tsebelda is outside the plans of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Abkhazia, the MoD has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early January the church of the 19th century and the Polish cemetery in Tsebelda were destroyed in the course of erecting a new training ground, the local administration has reported. The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has treated it as an act of vandalism and blamed the Russian Armed Forces. However, the Russian MoD has refuted the information about the construction of a military training ground in Abkhazia.

"We have two training grounds, used by the MoD of Abkhazia sites and the 7th Russian military base stationed in Abkhazia. These grounds are in the Gulrypsh and Ochamchira Districts. Any construction of new training grounds is out of question," the "Sputnik" Agency quotes the Abkhaz MoD.

The Tsebelda (Tsabal) village is located in the territory of the Kodori Gorge.
