Azerbaijani soldier killed in Karabakh conflict zone

Azerbaijani soldier Fikret Bashirov was killed during shelling from the Armenian side. This was reported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the Azerbaijani MoD accused Armenia of 22 cases of shelling during one day. Meanwhile, Nagorno-Karabakh claims 30 attacks from the Azerbaijani side.

"Soldier Fikret Bashirov was killed as a result of shelling by the Armenian side of positions in Nagorno-Karabakh of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces," reports the message posted on the website of the Azerbaijani MoD.

The message also notes that by the order issued by Zakir Gasanov, Azerbaijani Defence Minister, "the soldier was posthumously awarded the medal 'For Distinction in Military Service' of the third degree."

The Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not commented on the statement made by the Azerbaijani MoD.
