Adnan Khuade links his prosecution with protection of Circassians' rights
In his last plea at the trial in Maikop, the Circassian activist Adnan Khuade asked the court to acquit him. According to the activist, he is persecuted for "defending the right of his people to the recognition of Circassian genocide."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, 2016, during debates at the Maikop City Court, the prosecutor asked the court to find Khuade guilty of an attempt to commit a petty bribery, thus reclassifying the charge against the activist.
Prior to the reclassification, Adnan Khuade was accused of attempting to bribe a GIBDD (traffic police) inspector.
Today, the defendant has pronounced his last plea, his advocate Iland Abregov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "In his last plea, Adnan Khuade repeated everything he said during the debates. He said that the main reason for his presence in the prisoner's dock was the persecution for his political views. In particular, he said, he was persecuted for defending the right of his people to the recognition of the Circassian genocide," said the advocate.
