Relatives of missing Dagestani blame law enforcers for his disappearance

On January 17, Rashid Selderkhanov, who had been conditionally sentenced for inciting religiuos hatred, did not come home from the police station, where he was to check in, his relatives have reported.

According to their story, the missing person lived in Novy Urengoy. On September 15, 2016, the City Court sentenced the 22-year-old man to 1.5 years of conditional imprisonment under Article 282 of the Russia's Criminal Code for posting extremist photos and videos in a number of social networks.

Rashid went every month to the local police station to get registered; and on January 17, he was summoned their again, and then disappeared, as reported by his mother, Totugush Selderkhanova.

The police of the city of Novy Urengoy established that the name of Rashid Selderkhanov was among the passengers, who bought air tickets to Makhachkala, which took off on January 17, said the relatives. According to their words, one of law enforcers told them unofficially that Selderkhanov had been taken to Dagestan by law enforcers, who had suspected him of financing militants.

Relatives have added that they had lodged an application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan and appealed to rights defenders, the "Chernovik" reports.
