Azerbaijani statesman, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan.
Born February 26, 1935, in the city of Gyandja, in a family of a teacher. IN 1957, graduated from Azerbaijani Engineering Institute named after M. Azizbekov as a Mechanical Engineering major and started working as an engineer in Azerbaijani Institute for Oil Prospecting Equipment. From 1977 till 1978, was the director of the Institute for Oil Prospecting Equipment. From 1978 till 1981, was a deputy chairman of Azerbaijani State Planning Committee. From 1981 till 1986, was the department head in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. From 1986 till 1992, was the first deputy Prime Minister of the Republic. From 1992 till 1996, was a consultant for the Economic Reform Foundation. Since February 1996, was the assistant to the President of Azerbaijani Republic. Since May 1996, was the first deputy Prime Minister of the Republic. On November 26, 1996, was appointed the Prime Minister of Azerbaijani Republic.
Has received several state awards.
Married, has a daughter.
