Military police battalion sent from Ingushetia to Syria

Residents of Ingushetia should, as members of a military police battalion, ensure in Syria the safety of the Russian air force grouping, said Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2016, the Russia’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) already sent a Chechen military police battalion to Syria; and it should stay there until March 2017.

Today, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia, has announced the sending to Syria of another military police battalion "on a peacekeeping mission", this time composed of Ingush residents.

Apart from ensuring security of the Russian air force grouping, the battalion will protect the staff of the centre for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria.
