Defence of builder Mardiros Demerchyan treats policemen's evidence as incomplete

At the today's court hearing in the case against Sochi builder Mardiros Demerchyan, the court has questioned two policemen. They said nothing about the circumstances of the Sochi builder's detention, reported Mardiros Demerchyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, 2013, Mardiros Demerchyan, a builder involved in construction of the Olympic facilities, was detained. According to him, law enforcers brutally tortured him.

A member of the "Public Verdict" Foundation has stated that at the court hearing held on February 8, the judge acted objectively and drew the investigator's attention to his errors and contradictions in the testimony.

The next court hearing in the Mardiros Demerchyan's case was held at the Adler District Court. At first, the Court listened to a policeman who in June 2013 worked as the deputy chief of the Criminal Investigation Police Department, to which Mardiros Demerchyan was brought.

The policeman and the second questioned person have stated that they "saw no torture of Mardiros Demerchyan".

Advocate Boichenko has drawn the Court's attention to the fact that "when they were questioned by investigator, the policemen remembered more than they told the Court." "In particular, the policemen stated that they saw Mardiros Demerchyan voluntarily writing a confession. Today, they said nothing about that," said the advocate.

The judge has announced the decision to postpone the consideration of the Sochi builder's case till March 9.
