In Makhachkala, animal rights defenders organize patrolling of city streets
In Makhachkala, city residents are themselves engaged in shooting of stray dogs. This was reported by members of animal rights organizations "Ecolife" and "Zoolife". Animal rights defenders create patrols to stop the active shooting of animals.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 19, body of a nine-year old girl was found in Makhachkala. According to the preliminary information of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the child died because of dog attacks. After that, in Makhachkala, people organized catching of stray animals.
After the incident, according to Victoria Shevtsova, the leader of the organization "Ecolife", residents of Makhachkala "started massive shooting of stray animals," and the police "do not respond to that."
The animal rights defenders are going to bring Makhachkala residents engaged in shooting dogs "to the police," the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.
According to the animal rights defenders, six months before the tragedy, they appealed to the administration of Makhachkala with a request to build a shelter for stray dogs; however, after the authorities voiced the promise to allocate a land plot, no construction works were started, the "Mediazona" reports.
However, in his interview to the "Novoe Delo", Magomedrasul Saaduev, the former imam of the central mosque of Makhachkala, has stated that "any animal threatening the lives of people can be killed."
Let us remind you that on February 5, Valentina Magomedova, a resident of the village of Leninkent in the outskirts of Makhachkala, informed the media about the shooting of the dogs, which dead bodies did not taken out of the city.
