Beach fencing in the vicinity of "Riviera-6" Residence in Sochi causes discontent of Sochi residents

On the beach in Sochi, in the area of the State Residence "Riviera-6", builders are installing a fence. City authorities had promised to equip a beach in the mouth of the river instead, but the proposed place there is constantly polluted with sewage, said residents of Sochi, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Sochi residents, who are accustomed to doing their morning exercises in the Riviera municipal beach, said that workers asked them to change the place, because of the installation of the fence. At the same time, the workers could not show any building project.

Anatoly Pakhomov, the Sochi Mayor, has confirmed that "the beach along with the territory of the historical monument ‘Caucasian Riviera’ was transferred into the federal ownership and now belongs to the Federal State Budget Institution (FSBI) “United ‘Sochi’ Sanatorium of the Russian President’s Administration of Affairs”.

As noted by Mayor Pakhomov, now Sochi possesses over 130 beaches along the coast 140 km long. Some of them had been captured. However, now, thanks to the trials won by the Mayoralty and equipment of new beaches, the number of universally available beaches has reached 80.

Sochi has a long-standing problem of the division of beaches into federal and municipal ones, said Alexander Boichenko, the head of the local branch of the Moscow Bar Association.
