Activists complain about disunity of Kuban truckers

The disunion of actions of the heavy truck drivers (truckers) of the Krasnodar Territory (Kuban), who are protesting against the "Platon" system, is caused by the pressure of power agents and policemen, the truckers have stated. Many of them confessed that they decided to abandon the protests.

In early April, policemen blocked the entries to Krasnodar and disrupted a protest action against the "Platon" system there.

Kuban truckers "fear to go out to highways and organize protest camps," Sergey Gritsenko, the coordinator of the All-Russia truckers’ strike in the Krasnodar Territory, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that last week he was "several times summoned to the police and warned about the illegality of holding unsanctioned public actions."

Mr Gritsenko asserts that similar warnings were announced to other Kuban truckers. According to his story, the protesters of the Krasnodar Territory "in fact have no connections with each other."

Tigran Balayan, a protester from the Ust-Labinsk District, believes that Kuban truckers "should unite and declare their demands publicly."

Yuri Belyaev, his colleague from Tuapse, returned en route two days ago. According to his story, he "has nothing to feed his family."

He has added that was also summoned to the police station, where he was "forced to sign an obligation not to take part in unsanctioned actions."
