In Q1 of 2017, at least 45 people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the first quarter (Q1) of 2017, at least 45 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 36 were killed, and at least nine others were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll of 36 victims includes 25 people involved, according to the law enforcement bodies, in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and 11 law enforcers.

The number of nine wounded includes seven law enforcers and two civilians.

In Q1 of 2017, Chechnya became the hottest spot of Northern Caucasus. During the period from January 1 to March 31, in the course of armed confrontation, at least 36 people suffered in Chechnya. Of them, 28 people were killed and eight others were injured. The death toll includes 11 law enforcers and 17 people involved, according to the law enforcement bodies, in the activities of IAFs. The number of the wounded people includes two civilians and six law enforcers.

In Q1 of 2017, in Dagestan, nine persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, eight were killed and another one was wounded. All the killed people were suspected members of the armed underground, while the wounded person was a policeman.

In Q1 of 2017, in Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, and in the Stavropol Territory, no victims of the armed conflict were registered.
