HRC "Memorial" declares three Sochi women to be political prisoners (+video)

The verdicts to Marina Djandjgava, Inga Tutisani and Annik Kesyan, convicted for state treason, should be abolished, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) “Memorial” has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Marina Djandjgava was sentenced to 12 years, Inga Tutisani – to six years, and Annik (Aniko) Kesyan – to eight years in colony. Djandjgava and Tutisani were accused for sending, in the spring of 2008, SMS-messages to their Georgian acquaintances about the military equipment they saw on the railway. Kesyan saw military equipment at sea and sent her SMS-message in 2009.

"The information they sent was available to an unlimited circle of people; and women were not informed about the secrecy thereof," says the statement of the HRC “Memorial”.

All the three convicts were in fact deprived of any legal aid; and investigators prevented their meetings with relatives, the Centre has added.

The HRC “Memorial” has treated Marina Djandjgava, Inga Tutisani and Annik Kesyan as political prisoners.
