National Guard of Russia denies information about murder of its fighter in Chechnya

The information about the murder in Chechnya of a fighter of the National Guard of Russia (known as "Natsgvardia") suspected of homosexual orientation is false. This was reported by the National Guard of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 1, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" published a material on mass detentions and killings in Chechnya of LGBT people. Later, the newspaper reported about a "secret prison" for gays in Argun. On April 24, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported that a list with names of 26 residents of Chechnya subjected to repression, including on suspicion of homosexual orientation, was transferred to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

On May 22, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported that it had passed on to the ICRF the new information on four residents of Chechnya, who suffered from the anti-gay campaign. Three of them were killed in connection with suspicion of homosexual orientation, including a fighter of the National Guard of Russia.

Officials from the National Guard of Russia have reported that the information about the murder of its fighter in Chechnya on grounds of discrimination had not been confirmed.

"In the course of the pre-investigation check, no cases of the murders of fighters in the territory of the North-Caucasus District of the troops of the National Guard of Russia have been revealed," reports a press officer of the National Guard of Russia as quoted today by the "Interfax".
