Anticorruption rally held in Makhachkala

The capital of Dagestan hosted an anticorruption rally, which participants criticized the activities of the republican authorities and local officials and reported problems of immigrants and kidnappings. Four persons were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 27, more than 300 people gathered for a rally. They have expressed their support to Russian President Vladimir Putin and criticized his "henchmen in Dagestan."

Nurmagomed Gazimagomedov has pointed to illegal buildings constructed by officials on the shore of the Caspian Sea. He has proposed to create a Chamber of Nationalities to include representatives of all nationalities of Dagestan in order to avoid corruption and clanism.

"We have received complaints about inaction of officials from truck drivers and fire victims of the 'Dagelektromash' Market," said Luiza Suleimanova, a public activist.

Zurab Kurbanov has reported about the problems of immigrants from the Novolak District.

Zhanna Ismailova, the mother of a kidnapped man, has said that, according to the public committee against kidnapping, in the period from mid-2014 to 2017, 78 people were kidnapped in Dagestan.

Besides, at the rally, Patimat Gadjieva, a resident of Makhachkala, started delivering a speech and began to criticize Vladimir Putin. Nurmagomed Gazimagomedov, an organizer of the rally, snatched a microphone from her hand, and the woman was forced to leave the stage. Later, law enforcers detained her and Zagalav Somoev, a public activist, who criticized the Dagestani Minister of Internal Affairs.
