Dagestani journalists: participants of anticorruption rally deliberately refuse to criticize Kremlin

An anticorruption rally held in Makhachkala had nothing in common with the actions held by Alexei Navalny's supporters: participants of the event did not criticize the federal centre, but asked for help. This was noted by Dagestani journalists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". The participants of the action should have addressed most of the claims to the federal centre, believes Denga Khalidov, the adviser to the leader of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the rally took place on May 27, and it gathered more than 300 Dagestani residents. Eyewitnesses reported about the detention of four persons. The detainees were released on the same day.

Magomed Magomedov, a political observer of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), has noted that the action was small, poorly organized, and with no clear goals declared.

According to Magomed Magomedov, at the rally, the participant voiced criticism against Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov, since they "associated with him negative processes in Dagestan."

Gadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the weekly edition "Novoe Delo", believes that the rally "was organized by members of a real but ineffective opposition."

Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the news agency "Derbent", suggests that organizers of the rally "deliberately distanced themselves from the opposition, which expressed negative attitude towards the federal authorities."

According to Denga Khalidov, PhD in Political Sciences, many of the problems voiced by the participants of the action "are of private nature."
