Chechen Prosecutor's Office demands to block caricatures in support of Charlie Hebdo

The Prosecutor's Office of the Shali District of Chechnya has found that caricatures published in the network in support of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo could offend believers' religious feelings.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on May 13 that the Charlie Hebdo magazine dedicated a series of caricatures to persecutions of LGBTs in Chechnya; one of them depicts Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya.

Prosecutors have filed a lawsuit at the Leninsky District Court of Grozny asking to restrict access to pictures and caricatures posted on the Internet.

The revealed materials are intended to abuse believers' religious feelings; the spread of them may kindle national, racial or religious hatred and enmity, says the website of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.
