Dagestani resident disappears after his detention by law enforcers, his relatives claim

In the Dagestani village of Chervlyonnye Buruny, law enforcers detained Rashid Abdurakhmanov, and his whereabouts is unknown. This was reported by his family members. According to them, Rashid Abdurakhmanov disappeared on the eve of the Nogai People's Congress.

According to Rashid Abdurakhmanov's relatives, on June 13, law enforcers came to his house and "took him away with them for a conversation."

"He had earlier criminal record for involvement in a fight. His name was never included in any lists of persons suspected of extremism," said one of the Rashid Abdurakhmanov's relatives.

According to him, later, Rashid Abdurakhmanov "has phoned his wife, who stays at the maternity hospital in the district centre of Terekly-Mekteb". Rashid Abdurakhmanov said that he was released; however, "the conversation was suddenly interrupted," said the relative of the disappeared man.

"Since that time, his mobile phone has been switched off and we cannot contact him," said a brother of Rashid Abdurakhmanov.

Today, the All-Russian Nogai People's Congress has been opened in the aul (village) of Terekli-Mekteb. Its participants believe that the federal centre can help in solving the land conflict in the Nogai District.
