Residents of Northern Caucasus celebrate Eid al-Fitr with festive prayers and fireworks
Muslims of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Fitr. Mosques held festive prayers, and feasts and solemn events were organized for residents of the NCFD regions.
On June 25, the central Juma mosque of the capital of Dagestan hosted a festive prayer (salat al-id) in connection with the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. After the prayer, a sermon was held by Idris-Khaji Asadulaev, Deputy Mufti of Dagestan. According to him, in the month of Ramadan, "people have become attentive and respectful to each other."
On the occasion of the holiday, the Cathedral mosque of the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria held an event for small Muslims, which involved pupils from the children's Sunday school. Young Muslims recited by heart the suras from the Holy Koran and the hadith of the Messenger of Allah. At the end of the holiday, 500 children received sweet gifts, reports the official website of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
On June 24, in the capital of Karachay-Cherkessia, the charitable foundations "Dobrogorets", "Help09" and "Territory of Charity" organized a national Iftar involving several hundred people. On the last day of the month of Ramadan, an all-city Iftar was held in Karachaevsk. Besides, with the support of Karachay-Cherkessian leader Rashid Temrezov, the charitable foundation "Territory of Charity" provided food sets to more than 2000 residents of the republic, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Chechnyahas organized celebrations of Eid al-Fitr on a particularly large-scale. Thousands of people took part in a festive prayer of Eid al-Fitr in the Tsentaroi mosque named after Abdulkhamid Kadyrov. Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of the region, also took part in the prayer.
