Chechen residents, accused of attacking MfE employees, intend to seek rehabilitation

Three natives of Chechnya, accused of attacking employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), and their advocates, have treated the court's decision to return the case to the prosecutor as unexpected, but fair. They intend to stop the case, and to achieve rehabilitation and compensations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khamid Razhapov and brothers Said-Magomed and Khussein Tsetiev were detained in September 2014. According to investigators, they had beat up MfE employees near the Moscow settlement of Vnukovo. The defence insists that all the three have alibis.

"I was especially surprised by the thoroughness with which the court had dealt with all the circumstances of the case," said Tatiana Okushko, an advocate.

She has added that on July 6, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will decide on the complaint against the extension of Razhapov's arrest, the "Kommersant" writes.

Mr Razhapov himself said that the custody conditions in the SIZOs (pre-trial prisons), where he was kept, were satisfactory. "However, because of a constant stress, I got chronic diseases," he has added.

Let us note here that in August 2016, investigators began checking new alleged attackers on the MfE employees. The true culprits were named by the mother of one of the defendants; her data was confirmed by Chechen investigatory bodies.
