In Gukovo, 60 people take part in miners' hunger strike

In the Rostov Region, the number of miners on protest hunger strike increases every day, and it has already reached 60 people. This has been reported by members of the initiative group. The regional authorities have once again announced that the compensation demanded by workers of the "Kingcoal" group of companies which got bankrupt will be paid only after the sale of the companies' property.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since the spring of 2016, "Kingcoal" miners have been regularly protesting in Gukovo and Rostov-on-Don, demanding repayment of their salary debts and issuance of ration coal.

The miners have stated that debts for wages, allowances in the form of coal, as well as compensation for wages unpaid in time and other due payments are still not paid to the workers of the "Kingcoal" company. According to the estimates of the initiative group, the company's debts to miners amount to 374 million roubles.

On July 6, Tatiana Avacheva, a member of the initiative group, reported that every day, new people joined the miners' hunger strike and that the number of hunger-strikers had already reached 60 people. "On July 11, in accordance with the plan, ten protestors will go to Moscow to continue their hunger strike there," Tatiana Avacheva has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to participants of the protest hunger strike, they have not been visited by any medical officers yet.
