Mukhtarly's wife claims problems with her husband's medical treatment in custody

The health state of Afghan Mukhtarly arrested in Baku has deteriorated after his kidnapping in Tbilisi and arrest. He does not receive the medicine prescribed by his doctor to cope pain in his heart. This was reported by his wife Leyla Mustafaeva.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, the court dismissed the defence's motion to transfer Afghan Mukhtarly to house arrest. Advocates appealed against the court's decision.

Leyla Mustafaeva has noted that she has not yet been recognized as a victim in her husband's case. According to her, "during his kidnapping, Afghan Mukhtarly was heavily hit in his chest, in the heart area."

On July 3, Ucha Nanuashvili, Public Defender of Georgia, requested the General Prosecutor to ensure effective investigation into the alleged crime committed by staff members of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and recognize Afghan Mukhtarly as a victim.

Let us remind you that on June 15, the European Parliament urged Georgia to promptly investigate the kidnapping of Afghan Mukhtarly and Azerbaijan to release him and other political prisoners.
